The Bake Shop Ghost Musical
libretto by Jacqueline K. Ogburn score by Dr. Jonathan Schwabe World Premier Performance at June 14 & 15, 2007 About The Musical I was delighted with the musical idea and ended up writing the libretto. Jon had other works performed at the Maud Powell Festival in LaSalle, Illinois. He proposed the idea and the board agreed to mount the production. Then I had to learn how to turn a picture book into a play with lyrics. After several months of back and forthing via email and over the phone, Jon and I had the book to the musical. After the performance, I hope to post clips here.

I've been pleased that other creative people have been inspired by the story, including these two bakers at the Pagosa Baking Company. Librarian Nancy Keane has a podcast review of the book. |

How the Musical Began
After The Bake Shop Ghost was read on NPR by Scott Simon and Daniel Pinkwater, composer Jonathan Schwabe called me about turning the story into a musical. |
